Highlights

  • The popular Adrian Kiwanis Duck Race in downtown Adrian’s River Raisin returned this year, raising $12,700 for the community!
  • Served Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings to 400 guests at this three-decade-strong event, thanks to our partners Alpha Koney Island, Adrian Public Schools and more than 40 volunteers.
  • Honored more than 20 local members of the Clergy with lunch, a motivational message especially for them and a gift bag.
  • Continued our annual cheese fundraiser raising $4,000 for the community and provided cheese to a local food pantry.
  • Funded games, prizes and volunteered at Special Olympics. Packed food boxes for local school children at I-92 Ministries.
  • Named TOP Bell-Ringing Service Club by the Salvation Army in our friendly competition against the Adrian Morning & Noon Rotary Clubs. We also continued our annual tradition of breaking bread with Adrian Morning and Noon Rotary Clubs the week of Thanksgiving.
  • Supported the Adrian Community Preschool by paying utilities and mowing the lawn each week throughout the summer.
  • Provided 35 weekly lunches to Share the Warmth homeless shelter. Lost! our basketball game against Aktion Club’s “Hope Hoopsters”.
  • Raised $45,565 for the community by installing 1550 flags through our Avenue of the Flags project. We partnered with two youth groups, Adrian Public Schools, APS Band Boosters, three high school athletic teams, Maurice Spear Campus and AmVets Randy P. Hill Post 1957.
  • Contributed $12,500 to the Kiwanis Regional Trail Authority, $10,000 to Adrian Public Schools’ new stadium press box, and $19,604 to the Lenawee Community Foundation Imagination Library.
  • Contributed $200,000 from the Adrian Kiwanis Club Foundation to the newly-established Adrian Kiwanis Legacy Fund.
  • Funded 12 non-profit mini-grants totaling $22,500.
  • Welcomed 7 new Club members!

I concentrated on creating a new fundraiser to substitute one that was discontinued due to Covid, aimed to foster change within the organization by recruiting new members from diverse backgrounds, and prioritized including more members in the club’s daily operations, recognizing that collective effort is crucial for success.
